To encourage local businesses to develop cultural and creative products rich in cultural connections and symbolic meaning, the Changhua County Government held the “2024 Changhua Taste Cultural & Creative Excellence Certification” award ceremony on June 4. Wang Hui-Mei, Magistrate of Changhua County, personally recognized 12 selected works.
This year’s certification attracted 57 businesses with a total of 95 entries. After careful selection, 8 works were chosen in the Cultural & Creative Product category and 4 works in the Visual and Packaging Design category. The selected products are scheduled to be featured on the Changhua Taste Cultural & Creative Brand Website by the end of the year (2024) and are planned to participate in relevant cultural and creative expos, showcasing the unique “Changhua Taste” appeal of local cultural and creative products.
Magistrate Wang stated that Changhua has a 300-year cultural heritage. Through the cultural and creative certification mechanism, the county government hopes to help local industries integrate cultural characteristics with design thinking, enhance product added value, and create story-driven, competitive “Changhua Taste” products in preparation for the 2025 Taiwan Design Expo.
Su Wen-Ching, Chair of the Department of Design at National Taiwan Normal University, also noted that outstanding cultural and creative products must combine creativity, storytelling, visual appeal, and market connectivity. This year’s evaluation examined entries from multiple perspectives to select benchmark products that can serve as learning examples for future participants, ultimately inspiring the creation of even better products.

The final review panel consisted of experts and scholars from the fields of cultural and creative industries, design, and marketing. The organizers expressed sincere appreciation to all participants and jury members for their dedication. Moving forward, the county government will continue to promote cultural and creative development, enabling more people to see Changhua and grow to love Changhua.
